22 Apr, 2007DIFX Academy and AUD Business School team up for lecture on wealth creation and capital markets in Dubai

The DIFX Academy, the training arm of the Dubai International Financial Exchange (DIFX), and the American University in Dubai (AUD) Business School have joined forces to organise a lecture addressing the foundations of wealth creation, the role of capital markets, and Dubai 's many achievements and challenges.

The lecture, ‘Wealth Creation and Capital Markets: Dubai 's Institutional Challenge’, will be delivered at the AUD on April 24 by Armen V. Papazian, a visiting assistant professor in finance at the AUD and a research associate at the Judge Business School, Cambridge University in the UK. Finance professionals and interested members of the public are invited to attend.

Per E. Larsson, Chief Executive of the DIFX, said: Dubai 's capital markets are developing fast and it is important to understand the direction they are taking. This lecture is a significant addition to the growing suite of courses and lectures provided by the Academy to raise awareness of financial services in the region and beyond.

Dr. Dwayne A. Banks, Dean, School of Business Administration, the American University in Dubai, said: Dr. Papazian is a dynamic lecturer, with a command of capital market theory and applications that is both substantive, real-world, and timely. This lecture illustrates for attendees the challenges ahead for GCC countries, as they seek to position themselves as world leaders in both wealth creation and capital market formation.

The lecture will cover the basics of wealth creation and the role of capital markets, looking at Dubai 's achievements and the opportunities and challenges ahead. Through the event, the DIFX Academy and the AUD Business School aim to stimulate public discussion and understanding.

The lecture will be held at 5.30 pm at the AUD Auditorium (on campus) near Media City and is open to the public free of charge.

Dr Papazian earned a PhD in Financial Economics from Cambridge University and has supervised and lectured in Cambridge, Lebanon, India and Dubai. He has been a consultant for private and public organisations around the world. In 2007 he joined the DIFX as a Senior Vice President heading the department of Innovation and Development.
